Development of Tourism Collaboration Model in Lanna Civilization Tourism Development Region

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) study tourism collaboration between local governments and communities 2) investigate factors influencing of collaboration 3) analyze and develop the relation model of factors affecting the collaboration and 4) study process and guidelines for collaboration in sample sites. This study was carried out on the basis of a quantitative and qualitative approach in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Lamphang, and Lamphun provinces. The sample group included 214 areas. The questionnaires realiability was 95%. Data analysis was using frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation variance and Multiple Regression Analysis. In-depth interviews were used as the data collection tool in Chiang Dao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Chiangmai province; U-mong Subdistrict Municipality, Lamphun Province and Lamphang City Municipality,  Lamphang  province.

The results revealed 55.15% of local governments that received 25.00-50.00 million bahts per year. The community’s resources, the community’s members, the cooperative learning, the community’s leaders, the collaborative management can predicted the tourism collaboration between local governments and communities with the statistically significant at 0.01 level (P<0.01). And the organization’s  leader was statistically significant at 0.05 level (P<0.05). In terms of quality, Chiang Dao SAO were lacking of the organization’s resources, meanwhile the community’s leaders and their collaborative management leading were mostly observed. U-mong Subdistrict Municipality were hardly observed in the community’s resources whereas more organization’s resources. Lampang City Municipality directly affected their well-organized. But all of them were success in tourism management. The findings indicated that the leaders of community, the community’s  members, the community’s  resources, the collaborative management, the cooperative learning and the organization’s leaders as major components of tourism collaboration model between local government and community in Lanna Civilization Tourism Development Region.
