Relationships Between Store Image, Purchasing Behavior and Repeat Purchase Influencing Customer Loyalty in Modern Retail Stores of Consumers in Thailand
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to examine the relationship between store image, purchasing behavior, repeat purchases, and customer loyalty in modern retail stores among consumers in Thailand. Multistage random sampling was used to collect data from 400 consumers who had previously purchased goods from modern retail stores in Bangkok. The research instrument was a closed-ended questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, and structural equation modeling (SEM).
The study results found that 1) purchasing behavior revealed that most respondents used services from modern retail stores, most of which were convenience stores. They bought snacks and ready-to-eat food because the stores were close to home. The average cost per purchase was less than 300 baht. They purchased 5–6 items per transaction. Most respondents bought products for personal use, as they already purchased products regularly. They used the stores on their way home. Most respondents paid online via mobile banking, with the closest store being a convenience store. The purchasing time was from 4:01 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. They used the service 7–8 times per month. They had used online services. They had the most influence on their own purchasing decisions. They usually walked around and selected products themselves, and they would buy products at modern retail stores. 2) The overall store image was at a high level, with the product aspect having the highest average. 3) Repeat purchases were generally high, with “the tendency to purchase again” having the highest average value. 4) Overall customer loyalty was at a high level, with the attitude aspect having the highest average. 5) Store image had a positive influence on repeat purchases. 6) Store image had a positive influence on customer loyalty. 7) Repeat purchases had a positive influence on customer loyalty.
Therefore, business operators should prioritize the development and enhancement of the store’s image in all aspects, particularly in terms of product quality, accessibility, and the customer purchasing experience. In addition, policies should be implemented to promote the use of technology, encourage repeat purchases, and foster long-term engagement. These efforts would contribute to sustaining customer loyalty in a highly competitive retail environment.
