FACTORS PROMOTING BORDER TRADE BETWEEN THAILAND AND THE LAO PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC A CASE STUDY OF NAKHON PHANOM PROVINCE AND MUKDAHAN PROVINCE AREA

Abstract
This study aims to investigate business factors affecting and promote the border trade between Thailand and the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) in Nakhon Phanom and Mukdahan provinces. The samples used in the survey were retail traders. There are 48 samples from the Thai and Lao PDR, which are located in the relief area of That Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom province and the area of second Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. By using questionnaire and a semi-structured interview with the relevant government servant at the Mukdahan border. The reliability of the questionnaire was 0.85. by using the Cronbach's alpha test. Statistic tool was used to analyze data were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The factors that affect the business border trade are the rules and regulations of customs laws, Government policy, and political issues. Meanwhile, the factors supporting the border trade are Social and cultural factors, religions, relatives, and traveling. The factors that do not affect the border trade is Economic conditions
