Abstract

This research aims to improve Chinese vocabulary learning achievement and retention by using mnemonic techniques combined with the vocabulary book “14 Days to be good in Chinese”. For 6 classrooms of grade 7 students consists of 240 in the first semester of the 2024 academic year at Matthayom Wat NongKhaem School. The research tools include:  1) The vocabulary book “14 Days to be good in Chinese” 2) pre-test and post-test of Vocabulary 3) Retention test of vocabulary after using the mnemonic techniques and the vocabulary booklet and 4) A satisfaction survey regarding the development of learning achievement in vocabulary and retention using mnemonic techniques in combination with the vocabulary book. The researcher conducted a quantitative analysis using mean, standard deviation, and t-test dependent

          The findings are as follows: 1) The students' vocabulary learning achievement after using the vocabulary book “14 Days to be good in Chinese” was significantly higher than before, with statistical significance at the .05 level. 2) The students' retention of Chinese vocabulary, measured after a 2 week period (14 days) of using the vocabulary book “14 Days to be good in Chinese”, was significantly higher than after, with statistical significance at the .05 level and 3) The students' satisfaction with the development of vocabulary learning achievement and retention using the mnemonic techniques combined with the vocabulary book “14 Days to be good in Chinese” was at a good level, with a mean score (x̅) of 4.23 and a standard deviation (S.D.) of 0.57.
