This research article is a qualitative study with the objective of examining the roles and significance of the narratives surrounding Wat Phra That Doi Kham in Chiang Mai Province, which influence people's beliefs and faith. The researcher applied narrative theory. Data was collected from documents and contemporary media, while field data was gathered from the abbot and staff of the temple, as well as from people who came to worship there. The research tool was the in-depth interview, focusing on group discussions until data saturation was reached. The data was then analyzed and presented descriptively. Findings according to the research's objectives were:
1) The narratives clearly explain the background story of Wat Phra That Doi Kham, highlighting that the temple is located on another sacred and significant site in Chiang Mai; 2) the narratives reveal that, in Thai society, when Buddhism arrived in the Lanna Kingdom, representatives of the original beliefs, such as demons, accepted and continued to serve the religion; 3) the narratives demonstrate people's faith and their cooperation in preserving Buddhism; 4) the narratives showcase Buddhist monks who are role models of perseverance and forbearance, leading to the prosperity and faith of the community; and 5) the narratives highlight the cultural uniqueness of the community.
