ANALYTICAL STUDY OF CONTROLLING FACULTY AS APPEAR IN MAGANDIYA SUTTA

Abstract

The objectives of this research article are 1) to study the background and essence of the Magandiya Sutta, 2) to study the contolling faculties as appear in Magandiya Sutta and 3) to analyze the contolling faculties as appear in Magandiya Sutta. It is a documentary research (Documentary Research) based on the information in the Thai Tripitaka scriptures. The result of research article found that; 1) This sutta occurred in Kammasadhamma, Kuru region. considering that this person had the character to attain Arahatta-phala able to develop wisdom in Buddhism. By raising up a metaphor - a metaphor to show 3 things: Comparing human eroticism with clairvoyant passions, The consumer of sexual desires is like a leper, Compare the consumer of sensual desires to a blind person. As the Buddha said, no disease is a great fortune. Nirvana is extremely blissful. 2) The content of sutta has mentioned the six senses-faculties (Indriya) Cak- khundriya Sotindriya Ghanindriya Jivhindriya Kayindriya Manindriya. This makes a distinction between happiness in Magandiya's creed. which is worldly happiness and happiness in Buddhism is nirvana. 3) Birth-death, virtue-harm, and the trick to escape from the five-sensual pleasures were the differences between Magandiya with Buddhism. It is the point where Magandiya passed away from being a mortal. be a noble person and eventually attained Arahatta-phala
Knowledge in this research article, point out that We can't block the five senses, but we can contemplate, consider, contemplate. In what arises from seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching, which is called Controlling or Sense-restraint to apply for today's technology world.
