DEVELOPMENT MODEL FOR PROMOTION INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY OF ORGANIC RICE PRODUCTION WITH COST REDUCTION FOR SUSTAINABILITY OF KANU MODEL FARMERS IN KAMPHAENG PHET PROVINCE

The objectives of this research are to: 1) study the characteristics of agricultural entrepreneurs; 2) examine the relationship between the characteristics of entrepreneurs, the environment, problems and obstacles in organic rice production; and 3) develop a model for promotion the use of innovation and technology of organic rice production with cost reduction for sustainability of Kanu model farmers in Kamphaeng Phet province. Qualitative research collects data from document studies, non-participant observations, and in-depth interviews. The interviews are conducted with a group of 20 representatives of Kanu model farmers in Kamphaeng Phet province, as well as 6 individuals from the following groups: representatives of the Rice Millers Association, private sector rice mill owners, rice seed distributors, and representatives from government agencies. After that, the data obtained will be summarized by analyzing the content and presenting recommendations based on theoretical references to organize the data.
The research findings are as follows: 1) the characteristics of Kanu model farmers in Kamphaeng Phet province are (1) they own their farmland, (2) they have experience, (3) they have capital, (4) they have a positive attitude towards farming, (5) they have social capital, and (6) they engage in agricultural business development within their communities; 2) the relationship between the characteristics of entrepreneurs, the environment, problems and obstacles in organic rice production is influenced by (1) differences in experiences, (2) differences in agricultural management skills of farmers, (3) level of income, cooperation, and technological literacy of members, (4) local environmental conditions, and (5) government policy directions; 3) the development a model for promotion the use of innovation and technology of organic rice production with cost reduction includes (1) technology transfer, (2) participatory production, (3) market-oriented promotion of production, and (4) out-of-system education promotion for Kanu model farmers, respectively.
