PRINCIPLES OF GOOD GOVERNANCE IN MANAGEMENT: A CASE OF SARABURI MUNICIPALITY, SARABURI PROVINCE

The research on principles of good governance in management is intended to study, firstly the level of public opinions on the management of Saraburi municipality guided by the principle of good governance and secondly the comparison of their opinions with different personal characteristics classified by gender, marital status, levels of education, age groups, and monthly income. Residents in Saraburi municipality were selected, a total of 396 based on Yamane (1973) tabulation. It was descriptive research presented in the arithmetic mean, percentages, the standard deviation. Research tool used questionnaire for data collection and respondents were asked to express their opinions on a five-point Likert scale. The reliability test of confidence was 0.932 and statistical used for hypothesis testing was the t-test and F-test, any statistical results Scheffe test will be used.
The survey results revealed that most of the respondents were female (60.9%), were married (42.9%), having baccalaureate degrees or equivalent (32.6%), ages between 26-50 years (42.2%), and monthly incomes of Bht. 10,001-15,000 (44.2%). On testing the hypothesis the overall level of opinion of respondents with regards to the principles of good governance in management was high and the SD. was 0.45. The t-test for gender difference showed no statistical significance at .05. On testing the independent of three variables, the F-test, having the personal characteristics as dependent variables against independent variables, namely, the good governance components of the rule of law, morality, accountability, participation, responsibility, and cost effectiveness, there was any variable showed statistical significance at the level of .05.
