THE COOPERATION OF PARENTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES WHO RECEIVE SERVICES IN THE CENTRAL SPECIAL EDUCATION CENTER UNDER THE SPECIAL EDUCATION BUREAU

This exploratory research’s objectives were 1) to investigate the cooperation of parents in the development of children with disabilities who received services in the central special education center under the special education bureau, and 2) to compare the cooperation of parents according to their, education background, occupation and places of services receiving, towards the development of children with disabilities who received services in the central special education center under the special education bureau. The study adapted and integrated the concepts of the central special education center as its framework. The sample selected in this research by proportional stratified random sampling was 320 parents of children with disabilities who received services in the central special education center under the special education bureau in the year B.E. 2565. Questionnaire was implemented as the research tool, while basic statistics that were used to analyze data were mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA.
The findings revealed that: 1) According to the objective no. 1, the findings revealed that the parents of children with disabilities who received services in the central special education center under the special education bureau was ranked at high level for the overall cooperation. As for each variable, the parents contributed in technology acceptance, facilities, media, services, and education the most, whereas they contributed in the initial support the least. 2) According to the second objective of this research, parents with different education background, occupation and places of services receiving cooperated in the development of children with disabilities who received services in the central special education center under the special education bureau differently in terms of the overall and each aspect at significance level of .05.
From the results of this study, every special education center should emphasize on the cooperation of parents in the development of children with disabilities since parents were essential factor to improve children with disabilities.
