INNOVATIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT IN THAM SING THONG TEMPLE, CHOM BUENG DISTRICT, RATCHABURI PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) study the current state of waste management in Tham Singthong Temple. 2)developing waste management in Tham Singthong Temple.
3) presenting innovative waste management in Tham Singthong Temple. This research was conducted with qualitative method by documentary research, observation, the in-depth interview and focus group were conducted 21 people in total. The data were analyzed by using content analysis.  

The research shows that: 1) The condition of waste management in Tham Singthong Temple found that most of the garbage in the temple was dry leaf waste, about 90% of the total waste in the temple. And the temple had a way of managing it by collecting and piled for decomposition into fertilize. The used plastic water bottles were sold to the antique shop. Other waste such as food scraps, etc. was buried and burned. 2.  The development waste management in Wat Tham Singto Thong were made compost bins for dry leaves and were made brooms from used plastic bottles. 3. The innovation for waste management in Tham Singthong Temple were available in 2 forms: talking trash bins and drawer-covered compost bins. The knowledge of waste management innovation discovered from this research can be applied to waste management in others areas.
