Abstract

This research aimed: to study the fundamental information and conditions necessary for empowerment to enhance the quality of elders’ lives at the elderly schools in Nakhon Pathom province, to formulate an empowerment model designed to elevate the quality of life for elderly attendees at the Elderly School in Nakhon Pathom Province, to conduct a trial of the empowerment model's effectiveness in enhancing the quality of life for elderly attendees at the Elderly School in Nakhon Pathom Province, and to evaluate and refine the empowerment model aimed at improving the quality of life for elderly attendees at the Elderly School in Nakhon Pathom Province. The research followed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology. The researcher delved into concepts related to the elderly, empowerment, quality of life, and networking. The quantitative sample encompassed 186 elderly individuals, while the qualitative segment involved elderly attendees at seven Elderly Schools, with 35 participants in group discussions, selected through purposive sampling. Three types of research tools were employed: questionnaires, interview forms, and group discussions. Quantitative data was analyzed using percentages, mean, and standard deviation. Qualitative data underwent content analysis, and a descriptive report was compiled.

The findings were as follows: 1) The respondents' mean and standard deviation scores were rated at the highest level overall. 2) The developed model was termed the “KENG Model”, featuring elements encompassing Knowledge, Elderly School, Networking, and Good. 3) Following the model’s implementation, it was observed that the elderly participants who underwent training exhibited significantly increased knowledge levels after the program compared to before, at a significance level of .05. 4) The evaluation of the model’s enhancement indicated a high level of overall satisfaction. Experts agreed on the model’s efficacy, affirming that the knowledge gained from this research, encapsulated in the empowerment model referred to as the “KENG Model”, held significant promise for advancing the development of Elderly Schools.
