A MODEL FOR DEVELOPING ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP OF ACTING DEPUTY DIRECTORS OF SMALL SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN THE NORTHEAST

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) study of primary and secondary components of administrative leadership 2) create and develop an administrative leadership development model and 3). Seek progression of managerial leadership through the use of the developed model. To find the progress of managerial leadership through the use of the developed model. This research and development approach (R&D) was performed in three phases: Phase I: Study of the elements of administrative leadership through document analysis, and a survey research. The sample group consisted of the director and the teachers acting as deputy director of small secondary schools in the Northeast 169 schools, a total of 338 people.; Phase II: Model Construction and Confirmation based on experts’ reviews.; and Phase III: Model Implementation with 30 teacher acting as deputy director of a small secondary school. Under the Nakhon Phanom Secondary Educational Service Area Office. The research instruments used to collect data consisted of a rating scale questionnaire, and a administrative leadership assessment form. Data were analyzed were mean, percentage, standard deviation, required value and percentage progress
The findings were as follows: 1. The components of administrative leadership involved 3 main components, 13 minor components and 79 indicators are as follows: 1) Vision, consists of 3 secondary components and 22 indicators 2) Team building, consists of 3 secondary components 20 Indicators and 3) Motivation, consists of 6. Secondary elements 32 indicators 2. The administrative Leadership Development Model included six components: 1) principles, 2) objectives, 3) content, 4) development process, 5) media/equipment and 6) measurement and evaluation. 3. Advancement of administrative leadership through the use of the developed model revealed that the model was appropriate at the highest level in overall. Leadership level after experiment with the developed model higher than before with a percentage of progress equal to 26.38
This research found that teachers served as deputy director of small secondary schools in the Northeast. There is a need for development in creating a vision. A comprehensive model should be developed based on the Learning Assessment Criteria (KPA) consisting of knowledge, skills, and attitude
