Abstract

This research article’s objectives are: 1. To study the needs of the elderly in developing independent careers to generate income, Ban Pom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. 2. To develop a model for promoting independent careers of the elderly in Ban Pom Subdistrict. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province 3. Presenting a model for promoting independent careers for the elderly in Ban Pom Subdistrict. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province The study was conducted by using participatory action research. There are 4 steps involved: planning, action, observation, and reflection. In this research, data were collected through interviews, group discussions, fun conversations, and observation. The research participants were 26 qualified elderly people in the community. The results of the research found that the majority of elderly people want independent careers (70.21 percent), the time period for career development is 1-2 days (76.95 percent), and the format for organizing career development activities is career development from wisdom (40.42 percent). Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, averages and percentages and Qualitative data with content analysis.
Results of the study in developing a model for promoting independent careers for the elderly in Ban Pom Subdistrict. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province found that the model for promoting independent careers for the elderly in Ban Pom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province consists of 5 processes: (1) preparing people and preparing data to analyze the ecosystem of elderly careers (2) searching for network partners to promote careers in the community (3) Set goals for creating independent careers (4) Drive independent careers for the elderly through cooking wisdom food (5) Develop the value and meaning of local wisdom food in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The results of changes from the model for promoting independent careers for the elderly, Ban Pom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, found changes in 4 dimensions: 1) discovering the potential of the community and oneself 2) having additional careers within the context of the community 3) Having a supporting network. 4) Sustainable development occurs.
