The purpose of this study was to examine (1) the patterns, situations, and lessons of the ordination ceremony in Chanthaburi Province; (2) the coordination and network partnerships to drive the public ordination policy towards creating happiness and safety, while avoiding the spread of COVID-19 in Chanthaburi Province; and (3) the health communication of the non-alcoholic beverage social network in Chanthaburi Province. The researchers employed a qualitative research approach, utilizing the concepts of community health development, communication, and networking as the research framework. The study was conducted in six districts of Chanthaburi Province, including Tapon sub-district, Khlung district, Ko Khwang sub-district, Muang district, Bang Sa Kao sub-district, Laem Sing District, Thung Khan Subdistrict, Soi Dao District, Makham Subdistrict, Makham District, and Thap Sai Subdistrict, Pong Nam Ron District. The sample group consisted of abbots, preceptors, ordination hosts, and the general public.
The findings showed that: The stakeholders, including the abbots, preceptors, and ordination hosts, were in agreement with the policy to temporarily close the sale of liquor and alcoholic beverages to control the spread of COVID-19. This led to reduced road accidents and alcohol-related crimes, as well as lower household expenses for organizing events. The working groups were structured and had clear roles and duties. Meetings were held to plan and monitor the progress of operations at the sub-district and district levels, with regular supervision, monitoring, and evaluation. A forum was established to summarize lessons and prepare knowledge sets, as well as to disseminate information and policy proposals through press releases. The Chanthaburi Non-Alcoholic Community Network had an effective public relations plan and operating procedure, which included regular updates through various media. This increased awareness and credibility, as well as motivation for participation from stakeholders and community leaders. The insistence of the ordination hosts to not serve alcoholic beverages, along with the support of community leaders and villagers, helped to reduce expenses and make it easier to implement projects in different prototype areas. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the coordination and management of the ordination ceremony and the promotion of non-alcoholic beverage consumption in Chanthaburi Province, while avoiding the spread of COVID-19.
