EVOLUTION OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION FROM THE PAST TO PRESENT
Keywords:
Keywords : Evolution , Public AdministrationAbstract
Public administration is an ancient subject that dates back to Egypt, India, China, and the Roman Empire. This can be seen in Confucius', Lao Tzu's, Kautilya's, Plato's, or Aristotle's political philosophy, which contains a lot of public administration content. However, because there was no systematic collection of knowledge at the time, such knowledge could not be referred to as public administration. In this regard, the beginning point of knowledge about public administration was when Woodrow Wilson published The Study of Administration in 1887, during the era of traditional public administration.
It is regarded as the starting point, having evolved from the concept of Original Public Administration (OPA) to the concept of New Public Administration (NPA), and then to the concepts of New Public Management (NPM) and New Public Service (NPS). There would be an evolution in each era to solve problems that occurred by proposing models and theories to solve problems in government administration to provide the best response to the issue at the time.
