EFFECTS OF MOTHERS' SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS OF AUTISTIC CHILDREN

Abstract

This research aimed to study the effects of mother's skills training program on the development of language and communication skills of children with autism, to compare the ability of mothers to practice language and communication skills of children with autism before and after participating in the skills training program and to compare the language and communication skills of autistic children before and after participating in the skills training program. This research is experimental research. There were 2 sample groups: an experimental group and a control group. Each group consisted of 20 people, consisting of 10 mothers of autistic children and 10 autistic children. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that 1) The mother's skill training program affects the development of language and communication skills of autistic children, consisting of skills in seeing, listening, following orders, moving mouth and tongue and speech; 2) Mothers' ability to practice language and communication skills of autistic children before and after participating in the skills training program increased by 92.08 % (S.D 0.84) and 3 ) The language and communication skills of autistic children before and after participating in the skills training program increased by 72.72 % (S.D 0.76).
