The development of the professional learning community for Thai teachers of Prathomsuhsa 6 to enhance reading comprehension ability using KWL Plus

Abstract

The  objectives  of  this  research  were  to  1)  compare  teachers’ knowledge before  and after using Professional Learning Community (PLC)   2)  study  teachers‘learning   management abilities  about  reading comprehension 3) compare reading comprehension abilities of sixth grade students before and after and compare after studying according to the criteria of 75 percent and 4) study teachers ‘opinions towards using Professional Learning Community (PLC) by using KWL Plus Technique.

The sample used in the study were 1) 3 groups of 6^th Grade students from Watsrisamran Ratbumrung Cham Prachautit school. There are 118 students were randomly selected by using classroom as a unit. 2)  3 Thai teachers selected by using classroom from the sample.

The research instruments were a PLC and KWL Plus Techniques’teachers test. A learning management observation, lesson plan, comprehension reading test and a questionnaire for teachers' opinions with PLC and KWL Plus technique.

          The findings were as following: 1) the teachers' knowledge about PLC and KWL Plus Technique were higher than before. 2) The teacher learning management abilities was rated at the excellent level. 3) The reading for comprehension abilities after studying by KWL Plus Technique was significantly higher at the .05 level before and passed 75% 4) The opinions of teachers was at the highest level.
