The Development of the Professional Learning Community for Secondary Thai Teacher to Develop Critical Reading Skill Using Online Text with the Sq4r Method

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to compare the knowledge of teachers before and after establishing the Professional Learning Community and the learning management using SQ4R reading technique, 2) to study the teaching ability of the teachers by using the Professional Learning Community with SQ4R reading technique, 3) to study the critical-reading ability from online media of the secondary students by using SQ4R reading technique, criteria of 75 percent, 4) to study the attitude of teachers toward the Professional Learning Community and the learning management using SQ4R reading technique.

          The results indicated as follows: 1) the teachers had more knowledge about the Professional Learning Community by using SQ4R reading technique for the leaning management than before establishing the Professional Learning Community, 2) the ability to manage to learn using SQ4R reading technique was in the highest level, 3) the secondary students had the critical reading ability from online media by using SQ4R reading technique and passed the criteria at 75 percent, 79.06 percent of 2/1 students of Nongwanpriengwittaya school, 81.90 percent of 2/1 students of Srayaisomwittaya school, and  82.20 percent of 3/1 students of Nongwanpriengwittaya school. 4) teachers had the overall attitude toward the Professional Learning Community and the learning management using 6SQ4R reading technique in the excellent level, the Professional Learning Community (PLC) was the highest followed by the learning management by using SQ4R reading technique.
