The purposes of this research were to : 1) study the level of practice according to the professional standards of assistant teachers with a 5-year and 4-year Bachelor degree. 2) study how to guideline for promoting work performance based on professional standards of assistant teacher with a 5-year and 4-year Bachelor degree in Secondary Education Area office 21.
The sample was consisted of 329 assistant teachers by using the stratified sampling technique, and 11 interviewees by using the purposive sampling technique. The research instruments included work performance based on professional standards’ questionnaire with discriminating powers ranging from .467 - .893 and the reliability was .985, and the interview form for the guidelines for promoting work performance based on professional standards. The statistics used is descriptive statistics.
The results of the research were as follow:
1) The professional standards: knowledge standards by using language and technology; there are 4 skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in communicative language is at a low level. Using the results in teaching and learning management on Innovation and technology in education is at a moderate level.
2) The guidelines for development were as follows:
The guidelines for using listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in foreign languages to communicate: Encourage teachers to communicate with learners in a foreign language, having a test as Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In addition, the teacher must be an academic. There is an exchange of education in the international area.
Educational research: The teacher should do the research to develop learners and use the research results in learning management and encourage teachers to be aware of the results of the research to solve real problems. Teachers should always have their own development take the issues that arise from the teaching and learning process into issues of research. The director of the school should provide the budget, time, and morale for teachers to continue research, using the research results to create new knowledge, and the teachers should develop themselves.
Innovation and technology in education: choosing, designing, creating, and improving innovations for learners to learn and encourage, teachers try to use innovation both inside and outside the organization, exchange of knowledge to have a variety of innovations as backward design. The director has to encourage teachers to have an opportunity to study and to use innovations in the classroom. Teachers should create their own best practice and participate in the OBEC AWARDS. Along with encouraging teachers have the opportunity to visit the schools that are outstanding in creating successful innovations. School directors should organize workshops and allow teachers to create works of their own as Best Practice
