การสำรวจศาสนสถานจีนในเขตจังหวัดของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนล่างของไทย1

บทคัดย่อ

การศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นการสำรวจศาสนสถานจีนในเขตจังหวัดของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนล่างของไทย มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อรวบรวมเกี่ยวกับรายชื่อ ที่อยู่ ประวัติการก่อตั้ง สิ่งเคารพบูชาภายในศาสนสถานจีน ตลอดจนวิถีความเชื่อของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีน วิธีการเก็บข้อมูลกระทำโดยการเดินทางเข้าไปสำรวจในสถานที่จริง แล้วเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลที่ต้องการนำมาสังเคราะห์และวิเคราะห์ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ในเขตจังหวัดของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนล่างของไทย มีศาสนสถานจีนหลายประเภท แบ่งเป็น ศาลพระภูมิเจ้าที่ ศาลเจ้ามูลนิธิ สมาคม และสุสาน สิ่งเคารพบูชาภายในศาลเจ้าได้แก่ พระภูมิเจ้าที่ สัตว์เคารพ บรรพบุรุษ พระในพุทธศาสนา นักบวชในลัทธิเต๋า เทพเจ้าตามความเชื้อในลัทธิเต๋า บุคคลที่ได้รับยกย่องให้เป็นเทพ และเทพเจ้าจากตำนานและวรรณคดีของจีน ในครั้งนี้พบว่า การสร้างศาลเจ้าเป็นปัจจัยหนึ่งในการสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนให้เข้มแข็งยิ่งขึ้น ทั้งยังแผ่ขยายอิทธิพลความเชื่อและความเป็นจีนนิยมไปสู่ชาวไทยพื้นถิ่นอีกด้วยประโยชน์ของการศึกษาครั้งนี้คือ ได้นำไปใช้ในการเรียนการสอนและการวิจัยด้านภาษาจีนและจีนศึกษาในประเทศไทย ตลอดจนสามารถเข้าใจถึงวัฒนธรรมความเชื่อ ศาสนาและปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนกับชาวไทยพื้นถิ่น

A Survey of Chinese Religious Places in SouthernProvinces in the Northeast Region of Thailand

This study was a survey of Chinese religious places in southern provinces in the Northeast region of Thailand. The goal was to compile a list of religious places in terms of names, addressed, historical background, items of worship, and associated beliefs of Thai people of Chinese origin. The method employed was visits to the sites for data collection; the data were later analyzed and synthesized. The findings showed that Chinese religious places in the target region are of different types: protective spirit houses, shrines, local Chinese Association buildings, and cemeteries. Items of worship inside these religious places were found to be figures of guardian spirits, worshipped animals, ancestors, Buddhist monks, Taoist priests, Taoist gods, deified persons, and gods in Chinese mythology and literature. It was also found that building shrines is a way of strengthening Chinese-Thai identity and spreading the influence of Chinese beliefs and pro-Chinese ideologies among local Thais. The benefits of this study extended to Chinese teaching and research on Chinese studies in Thailand as well as the understanding of cultural beliefs, religion, and interactions between Thais of Chinese origin and local Thais.
