Terms for Women in Modern Khmer Novels

Terms for women are variously used in Mordern Khmer Novel. According to the study about modern Khmer novels of 20 stories which were published during 2004 - 2013, it has been found that the Terms for women are generally the words which used as a pro-form; in other word, it is a noun that used in place of person. The Khmer authors will choose the synonyms to show the meaning toward women which represent the admiration about the various images of female protagonist to help the readers have imagination accordingly.

Therefore, the meaning of Terms for women can reflect Khmer author’s and Khmer people’s value towards women’s beauty and qualifications.
