บทคัดย่อ
บทความชิ้นนี้ศึกษาปัจจัยที่ทำให้เกิดการประท้วงขับไล่ชาวเวียดนามอพยพในพื้นที่ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนบน และแสดงให้เห็นถึงความเชื่อมโยงของเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวกับเหตุการณ์ 6 ตุลา 1976 ซึ่งเป็นเหตุการณ์สำคัญในประวัติศาสตร์การเมืองไทยร่วมสมัย โดยศึกษาจากหลักฐานประเภทลายลักษณ์อักษรเป็นหลัก ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วยเอกสารจากหอจดหมายเหตุแห่งชาติ เอกสารจากหอจดหมายเหตุสภากาชาดไทย และข่าวหนังสือพิมพ์ในช่วงเวลาดังกล่าว นอกจากนี้ ยังมีหลักฐานบางส่วนจากการสัมภาษณ์อีกด้วย จากการศึกษาพบว่า ปัจจัยที่ทำให้เกิดการประท้วงขับไล่ชาวเวียดนามอพยพในพื้นที่ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนบนนั้นประกอบไปด้วย 1) ความเกลียดชังและความขัดแย้งที่มีมาแต่เดิมระหว่างประชาชนท้องถิ่นกับชาวเวียดนามอพยพ 2) การปลุกระดมของกลุ่มฝ่ายขวา ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วยนักการเมือง และกลุ่มนักเรียนอาชีวะ และ 3) การนำเสนอภาพลักษณ์ชาวเวียดนามอพยพของสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ นอกจากนี้ การประท้วงขับไล่ชาวเวียดนามอพยพในพื้นที่ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนบนยังมีความเกี่ยวโยงกับเหตุการณ์ 6 ตุลา 1976 โดยมีกลุ่มฝ่ายขวาเป็นผู้ที่มีบทบาทสำคัญในการก่อการณ์ และมีการใช้วาทกรรมลักษณะเดียวกันในการโจมตี นอกจากนี้ ยังปรากฏหลักฐานจากหน่วยงานของรัฐที่แสดงให้เห็นความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างชาวเวียดนามอพยพกับกลุ่มขบวนการนักศึกษาอีกด้วย
