บทคัดย่อ
ความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคมเป็นประเด็นที่นักวิชาการได้ศึกษากันอย่างแพร่หลายผ่านทางกรอบแนวคิดทฤษฎีต่าง ๆ รวมถึงการศึกษาเชิงวิเคราะห์ความเหลื่อมล้ำด้านทรัพย์สินผ่านค่าดัชนี การประยุกต์ใช้กรอบแนวคิดเศรษฐศาสตร์การเมือง รวมไปถึงการพิจารณามุมมองด้านวัฒนธรรมเฉพาะกลุ่มเพื่ออธิบายปรากฏการณ์เฉพาะในพื้นที่ เป็นเวลามากกว่า 15 ปีแล้ว ที่ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.บอยเกอ เรห์ไบน์ ได้พัฒนาองค์ความรู้และระเบียบวิธีในการศึกษาความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคมผ่านทางการศึกษาจากประเทศต่าง ๆ โดยประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิดของปิแอร์ บูร์ดิเยอ ว่าด้วยเรื่องทุนและฮาบิตุส ในการอธิบายการผลิตซ้ำความเหลื่อมล้ำโดยผนวกรวมเข้ากับเงื่อนไขทางประวัติศาสตร์และโครงสร้างทางสังคมแบบเฉพาะตามพื้นที่ซึ่งได้เข้าไปศึกษา วิธีการศึกษาวิจัยนี้มีอิทธิพลต่อความคิดและแนวทางการทำวิจัยของบรรดาศิษย์และนักวิชาการที่มีโอกาสได้ร่วมงาน ทั้งนี้ องค์ความรู้และระเบียบวิธีในการศึกษาดังกล่าวมีความยืดหยุ่นแต่ในขณะเดียวกันมีพื้นฐานการประยุกต์ใช้ทฤษฎีที่มีแบบแผน บทความชิ้นนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1. ถ่ายทอดการส่งผ่านองค์ความรู้ด้านความเหลื่อมล้ำในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และ 2. นำเสนอระเบียบวิธีในการศึกษาความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคม
