Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research aimed to developing Isanness conceptual metaphor ontology in Isan Folksong (Isan Luk Thung).

Methodology: Research and development, divided into 2 phases: 1) Analysis of Isanness metaphor in the northeastern country song, and 2) The developing Isanness conceptual metaphor Ontology by defining main metaphor concepts and the sub-metaphor concepts using the faceted method (bottom-up analysis) of Prieto-Diaz (2002), and the comparison of metaphorical words and conceptualizations of the source domain and target domain, that reflects Isanness with Lakoff and Johnson approach.

Main Findings: Design and development of Isanness Conceptual Metaphor Ontology. It consists of 5 main conceptual metaphor classes, 15 sub-conceptual metaphor classes. The relationship between the classes of 10 relationships. The results of the evaluation of Isanness’s conceptual metaphor ontology with the Protégé 4.3 program by experts in linguistics, folklore, and information science found that it was appropriate for the content within the ontology. Correct to apply the order of internal classes relationship determination the data type properties and data type details are consistent.

Applications of this study: This studied to bring the metaphor ontology in Isan Folksong (Isan Luk Thung) using linguistic and communication integrated with the ontology approach, language uses as metaphors too, and communication tools. relationship names between classes within the ontology are appropriate and can be interpreted. To create new knowledge and fill existing knowledge of interdisciplinary studies in language communication and information science are become highly effective in further.
