Abstract

Purpose of the study: This qualitative study aimed at investigating information features of personal records of Prof. Dr.Kanok Wongtrangan and developing a personal record classification scheme according to an ontology-based approach.

Methodology: The research approach is research and development (R&D), data were collected by using record survey technique.

Main Findings: The findings of this study are as follows. Concerning 1) information features of personal records, most of the content were concerned with the conduction of research studies and work on supervising projects. The context involved the records created or received according to their responsibilities, particularly scholars responsible from academic works, from 1981-1997. The structures, most records are paper and varied in terms of their appearance, format and sizes. Concerning (2) the development of the personal record classification scheme, it consisted of 8 classes and 5 sub-classes with hierarchical structures, explanations of the classes, and examples of the documents in each class.

Applications of this study: The results contributed to the design and development of other personal record classification schemes and pave ways for future relate research.
