From Literary Studies to Cultural Studies: A Paradigm’s Shift

Abstract
This research paper explores the paradigm of cultural studies in the western academic world, especially in the United Kingdom and the United States from 1970 to the present time. It also discusses the impact of cultural studies to the study of literature and its contribution to the research on literary studies. The paradigm of cultural studies opens up the relationship between literature and the world. Examples of dissertations of the Ph.D. Program in Literature and Comparative Literature, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand which applied this paradigm to the Thai literary context had been analyzed in order to show a paradigm's shift in literary studies in the Thai social
context
