Yama in the Aspects of Astrology and Buddhism

Abstract
This academic article has as its objective a comparative study of Mrityū in the Horāshastra and also in the Tipitaka's teaching, and examines the knowledge of astronomy and its links to astrology. Some astronomers say that astronomy is a branch of science that is unrelated to astrology. But astrologers consider that the stars in the sky influence on human lives, and forecasting the past and future could not exclude the stars. Moreover, Astrology has more meaning and influence that does not appear in astronomy, especially Mrityū, the star that is a harbinger of change and usually means death, disaster and misfortune. In the Buddhist teachings, Mrityū is Yama or Maccu Rāja.
