Career Development Guidelines for the Elderly of Nongbo Village, Tambon Nongbo, Mueang Ubon Ratchathani District, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Abstract
The objectives the mixed research methods were 1) to study general situations of the elderly in Ban Nongbo, Nongbo Sub-district, Mueang Ubon Ratchathani District, and 2) to study the career development guidelines for the elderly of Ban Nongbo, Nongbo Sub-district, Mueang Ubon Ratchathani District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The research results revealed that: 1. The general situations related to the elderly were found that most of the elderly did not have a permanent job, but still have been working in agriculture for some time because they were satisfied and happy to work. Moreover, some of them had to raise grandchildren because their children had to work in cities or other regions. 2. The guidelines for career development for the elderly were from an initial stage of realizing that the elderly are valuable members of the community. If they can earn their own income that is sufficient for daily expenses and health care expenses without relying on income from their children and pension from the government. They will make them dignified. In addition, most of the elderly would like to have a group of careers that are suitable for their own community contexts and to be consistent with their physical conditions. Moreover, the elderly are also interested in participating in vocational standardized training in order to have knowledge and skills in a career that will increase income enough to support themselves and their family. Lastly, they want to have savings for the time they cannot work.
