The Self-Improvement Needs of Music Teachers in Secondary Schools in Buriram Province

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study self-improvement needs of music teachers in the secondary schools in Buriram province. The population used in this research was 66 music teachers of the secondary schools in Buriram province. The research tools consisted of a 5-scale questionnaire with confidence value of 0.91. The statistics used in the data analysis comprised of percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research results revealed that the music teachers’ needs of self-development was overall at a high level with the total mean of 4.29. Their needs were divided into two aspects as follows: 1. Their needs of self-development on music were overall found at a high level with the total mean of 4.30. In the aspects of composition and improvisation, it was also at a high level with the highest mean of 4.36. Moreover, the listening and analytical skills with the lowest mean of 25. 2. Their needs of self-development on teaching was overall found at a high level and the total mean of 4.28. For music assessment, it was at a high level with the highest mean of 4.34 while the music curriculum was at a high level with the lowest mean of 4.22.
