Abstract

This research aimed to develop indicators of cultural awareness of school administrators and test the consistency of indicators developed together with empirical data. The sample of this study were 250 school administrators in Songkhla. Simple random sampling was used in this study. The research instrument was a 11-question questionnaire. The statistical analysis for hypothesis testing was performed using confirmatory factor analysis. The findings revealed that indicators for cultural awareness of school administrators consisted of cultural self-awareness, awareness of others' cultural, and awareness of cultural diversity, was developed in accordance with empirical data significantly at .001. All statistics values passed criteria of consistent to the empirical data (χ²/df = 3.91, TLI = .89, CFI = .92, SRMR = .07, RMSEA = 10), so that it accepts the research hypothesis. Factor loadings were .520 to .771 which were significantly in practice. Coefficient of correlation was all positive. Construct reliability was equal to .90 considered as good reliability, and average variance extracted was at .46 considered as sufficient convergent validity. Therefore, related sections can use this findings to issue the manual of cultural competency of school administrators.
