Invented Tradition and Cultural Resource Management of Buriram Volcano Festival, Mueang Buriram District in Buriram Province

Abstract

        The purpose of this study was to examine the history of the Buriram Volcano Festival, Mueang Buriram district, Buriram province. This research was qualitative research by investigating from documentary, research and field studies from 115,524 of population in the festival by using a non-specific random method. The sample was selected from the expert, performers and general people. The research instruments were survey form, non-participatory observation form, structured interview and unstructured interview form.


        The result shown the background of the Buriram Volcano Festival. Actually, this festival was the one event hold by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Buriram office December every year. This year was the second time including the 2017 – 2018 year. This festival has been received good feedback from many tourists and has been planned to continue next year. The concept of festival was created to pray subhadarabopitr buddha statue, lighting decorated, the performance of way of life, cultural product selling and cultural playing about Buriram Volcano. So, the festival was built for responding tourism and increasing profit to the community.  Each part has been received cooperated from the government and private groups which adjusted from Khoa Kra Dong festival to be fit able a modern globalization.
