The Development of Training Programs for Competency Development Tourism Management in ASEAN for Vocational College’s Students in Lower Northern of Thailand

Abstract
The objective for this research was to develop the training programs for competency
development in tourism management in ASEAN, for vocational college’s students in the lower
northern of Thailand. The three steps of research methodology are studying, drafting and assessment
for the training programs. Research tools are interview and assessment form. Research conducted
by depth interview the specialist and focus group discussion. The result were showed that, the
competency development tourism management in ASEAN are; 1) compatibility with colleagues
and customers, 2) implement occupation health, 3) industry services operation, 4) safety produces
in the workplace, 5) work in a socialization environment, 6) ability in a communicative English, 7)
utilization of technologies in workplace. The training programs are consist of 7 activities; team work,
the hygiene in the workplace, industry services, safety in the workplace, the working environment,
ability in communicative in English and utilization of technologies for career. The training programs
assessment are added more contents for the following teamwork management, services minded and
psychology for servicing, human relation, being good leadership and follower, English
communication skills. Field practicing on the job training in the place where foreigners actually are
present. The results showed that the picture are appeared in the knowledge sheet and the work sheets
should be match to each other. Education trip in hotel and tourism are enthusiastic the student to be
excursions and ready to work.
