Abstract

The purposes of the study were 1) to study the history of the components and the whole steps of the marriage ceremony of Katak of Chong in Chanthaburi Province and 2) to create the song of Katak.  The study was qualitative research.

The results of the research were that the history of the components and the whole steps of the marriage ceremony of Katak were 1) building the new and small cottage for ceremonial marquee 2) telling the ancestors’ spirits with Chong prayers that prayed by the Brahmin 3) the bride’s Khan Mak procession to make a marriage proposal 4) the celebration of the wedding couple that inspired to create the song to express the ritual and the identity of Chong’s wedding ceremony. The song creation was divided into 6 components: 

1) the idea and the inspiration to create the song of Katak that emphasized the ritual, the supernaturalism and the joyfulness 2) the creation of lyrics and the rhythms that was composed from Chong prayers 3) choosing the rhythmic Thai and western musical instruments 4) choosing the skillful music players and singers 5) research presentation to experts and eminent persons and 6) creative music presentation to public.
