Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy for Journal of Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts (H.S.A. Journal)

Pursuant to the resolution of the Editorial Board Meeting of Journal of Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts (H.S.A. Journal) (Meeting No. 4/2026 on August 11, 2026, held at Meeting Room AEC312, Technology and ASEAN Language Learning Center Building, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Udon Thani Rajabhat University (Sam Phrao), and via online platform), approving the announcement of the AI usage policy for articles published from Volume 9, Issue 1 (2027) onward, the Journal hereby declares the following policy:

AI Usage Guidelines for Authors

  1. Tool Assistance Only: Authors may use AI strictly as a supportive tool for manuscript drafting. AI cannot be listed as a primary author, co-author, or representative under any circumstances, ensuring that the manuscript contributes original knowledge, academic value, and scholarly benefit.
  2. Author Responsibility and Integrity: Authors are fully responsible for the content, accuracy, and integrity of the manuscript. Because AI tools cannot be designated as authors or co-authors, they cannot take responsibility for the work. Therefore, authors must verify that any content generated or assisted by AI constitutes original work, with all sources cited and referenced accurately and completely to prevent plagiarism.
  3. Disclosure Requirements: If AI is used in a substantial part of the article, authors must fully disclose this information. Authors must describe how AI was utilized in the Acknowledgments and Methodology sections. If AI is used to generate text, tables, or figures, the prompts used must be disclosed. If AI is used for data analysis, it must be declared in both the Abstract and Methodology sections.
  4. Grammar Checking: Authors may use AI for language and grammar editing.

AI Usage Guidelines for Peer Reviewers

  1. Confidentiality: Reviewers must not upload manuscripts or any portion thereof into AI systems, as this may breach author confidentiality and data privacy rights.
  2. Independent Assessment: Reviewers should not use AI to analyze manuscript content or draft review summaries.
  3. Grammar Checking: Reviewers may use AI for language and grammar editing.

AI Usage Guidelines for Editors

  1. Confidentiality and Exceptions: Editors must not upload manuscripts or any portion thereof into AI systems due to potential breaches of author confidentiality and privacy rights, with the exception of software specifically designated for detecting AI-generated content (the Journal utilizes Copyleaks for AI detection).
  2. Detection Standards: The editorial team must maintain effective tools capable of detecting AI-generated content as well as abnormal image or text manipulation, ensuring these tools operate at full capacity.
  3. Grammar Checking: Editors may use AI for language and grammar editing.

Evaluation and Decision Criteria for AI-Assisted Manuscripts

  1. Rejection Threshold: The Journal rejects manuscripts that are entirely generated by AI. The Journal employs Copyleaks for AI detection; to be accepted, the AI-generated content score of the manuscript must not exceed twenty percent (20%) of the total text.
  2. Non-Compliance: The Journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that demonstrate a lack of accountability for content or fail to disclose AI usage fully and transparently.
  3. Appeals Process: Authors may appeal editorial decisions regarding AI evaluation by submitting clear evidence to the Editor and Editorial Board. A decision may be overturned if the counter-evidence is explicit and approved by the Editorial Board. The final decision of the Editorial Board is absolute and binding.
  4. Post-Publication Retraction: If a published article is subsequently found to violate this AI policy, the Journal reserves the right to cease publication, and the article will be retracted from the Journal's website.
