ภาษาที่ใช้ตั้งชื่ออำเภอในภาคกลาง; Language Used to District Naming in Central Region

Abstract

           บทความนี้มุ่งอธิบายที่มาของภาษาที่ใช้ตั้งชื่ออำเภอในจังหวัดของภาคกลาง ข้อมูลชื่ออำเภอทั้งหมดมีจำนวน 176 อำเภอ และ 50 เขต ในกรุงเทพมหานคร รวมทั้งหมด 21 จังหวัด รวม 226  ชื่อ โดยพบว่า      ชื่ออำเภอในภาคกลางนั้นมีที่มาจากภาษา 4 ภาษา ได้แก่ ภาษาไทย  ภาษาบาลีสันสกฤต  ภาษาเขมร และภาษาถิ่น  โดยแบ่งออกเป็น 3 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ ชื่อที่มาจากหนึ่งภาษา  ชื่อที่มาจากสองภาษา และชื่อที่มาจากสามภาษา ทั้งนี้ชื่อที่ใช้ภาษาเดียวพบมากที่สุด ขณะที่รูปแบบที่มาจากสองภาษาพบว่ามีการใช้ภาษาไทยและภาษาบาลีสันสกฤตร่วมกันมากที่สุด ที่มาภาษาที่ตั้งชื่ออำเภอมีความสัมพันธ์กับการตั้งถิ่นฐานของชุมชนในพื้นที่ภาคกลางตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบัน นอกจากนี้ชื่ออำเภอยังแสดงอัตลักษณ์และอธิบายถึงชุมชนที่อยู่ในแต่ละอำเภอด้วย

                                                                                   Abstract

          This article aims to explain language used in naming the district in central region including Bangkok of Thailand. The data were grouped from district name in 21 provinces.  There are totally 226 districts from 176 districts and 50 cities in Bangkok.  The finding showed that there are 4 languages which are used to name: Thai, Bali-Sansakrit, Khmer, and dialects. It has 3 categories of naming: 1) only one language, 2) two-languages, and 3) three-languages. The Thai language is the most language used in first category, while the second and third categories were found that the cities were named by Thai mixed with Bali-Sansakrit languages. The different languages in place naming shown that there are people in different cultures who had settled their communities in central region that leads to the plural culture in this area as well as different languages. Furthermore, the place name can show the community identity and also described its people in each district.
