THE FACTORS INFLUENCING THE COMPETENCE OF STUDENT TEACHERS AT PHRANAKHON SI AYUTTHAYA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

This article aimed to study 1) the factors influencing the competence of student teachers at Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University and 2) model for forecasting the competence of student teachers at Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University. This research conducted quantitative research. The study population comprised 18 student teachers who had participated in the science and technology learning management activities for the digital 4.0 era using the census method. The tool used to collect data was a questionnaire. The data was collected from all student teachers who participated in the science and technology learning management activities for the digital 4.0 era. The collected data from the population were evaluated using the R statistical program. The statistics used in the data analysis included descriptive statistics, which comprised the frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics, which comprised a t-test and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The research results were found as follows:

1) The mean of factors influencing the competence of student teachers was equal to 4.67 and the mean of competence of student teachers was equal to 4.68. Moreover, the results indicated that gender did not affect the competence of the student teachers.

2) The results of the multiple regression analysis indicated that obtaining knowledge development ( ), achievement motivation ( ), future orientation and self-control ( ), and the attitude toward the teaching profession ( ) statistically significantly influenced the competence of the student teachers ( ) at the 0.05 level. The model for forecasting the competence of student teachers was represented as . The attitude toward the teaching profession caused a variation of 58.00% in the competence of the student teachers.
