Abstract

             The objective of this research is to study the context of Sam Ruen sub-district community, Bang Pa-in, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province through a field research study together with quantitative and qualitative researches by using participatory action research techniques (PAR) in order to study the context of the community. The researcher determined the size of the sample used in this time as 5,776 household units in total. From the comparison of the table in the range of between 5,000 to 6,000 units, the number of samples was 375 households at a confidence level of 95 percent.  The providers of information in this study were from the people from 5,776 households living in Sam Ruen community which were used by the researcher in the number of 375 households in total and the research was conducted between February 2015 and January 2016.


           The result of the research showed that the context of Sam Ruen sub-district community is "Urban communities combined with rural communities" which means there are  both "urban communities" that are homes of laborers working in industrial zones such as dormitories, apartments and housing villages that the majority of the population is latent populations who mostly are not involved in community activities because of having to work in an industrial estate all day long and "rural communities" with informal social relationships due to being almost all relatives. This community has no class difference but tight integration that majority of the population are rice farmers. The problem of the community are namely,  drug  economic and environmental problems especially water pollution because Sam Ruean sub-district has a  Khlong Pho canal flowing through and have a variety of activities that require the said canal.
