Abstract

This article aims to present a framework for improving the quality of life of citizens using Buddhist principles as a central, holistic integration across four main dimensions. The study and analysis of the behavior of Buddhist citizens revealed that effective quality of life improvement requires linking Buddhist principles to the context of daily life. In the family dimension, the focus is on integrating the principles of lay ethics (Gharavasa Dhamma) to build strong relationships through honesty, self-discipline, patience, and self-sacrifice. In the economic dimension, the principle of Ditthadhammikattha (righteous livelihood) is applied to create wealth through honest work, emphasizing diligence, resource management, building networks of virtuous friends, and adhering to the middle path. In the social dimension, the principles of Sanghahavatthu (principles of social harmony) are integrated to enhance social capital through sharing, constructive communication, community service, and equal treatment. In the spiritual dimension, the Five Precepts (ศีล 5) are used as a guideline to control behavior, fostering ethical stability and encouraging continuous intellectual development and learning. This integrated, systemic development fosters mutual support across all dimensions, leading to an improved quality of life and a balance between material and spiritual well-being. This is a crucial foundation for driving sustainable national and community prosperity in the long term. Furthermore, the approach to improving the quality of life of the people should involve integrating Buddhist principles into daily activities, demonstrating a Buddhist-integrated approach to life development and quality of life.
