CREATING A NEW SPACE FOR LEARNING DEMOCRACY AND POLITICS OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NONGKI DISTRICT, BURIRAM PROVINCE

Abstract
This research aimed to 1) Study public opinions on the creation of new democratic and political learning spaces in high schools in Nong Ki District, Buriram Province. 2) Study activities on the creation of new democratic and political learning spaces in high schools in Nong Ki District, Buriram Province. 3) To determine guidelines for developing new democratic and political learning spaces in high schools in Nong Ki District, Buriram Province. The research was conducted using a mixed-methods research methodology, using qualitative research, document research, and in-depth interviews with 25 key informants. Data was analyzed using descriptive content analysis and focus group discussions with 15 key informants using descriptive data analysis. The research results found that:
1) Public opinions on the creation of new democratic and political learning spaces in high schools in Nong Ki District, Buriram Province were as follows: Public opinions on the creation of new democratic and political learning spaces in high schools. Teachers cannot exercise power over youth because communication can change the behavior of new generation youth. There should be activities to monitor and analyze political news that are consistent with learning about democracy in schools.
2) Activities to create new learning spaces for democracy and politics in high schools in Nong Ki District, Buriram Province, as follows: Organizing a space for monitoring political news, presenting political news according to students’ ideas, and allowing teachers to listen instead of pointing out right or wrong. Organizing teaching and learning according to real situations, providing spaces for students to learn how to organize political gatherings, and being open to listening to political news with different ideas.
3) Determining guidelines for developing and creating new learning spaces for democracy and politics in high schools in Nong Ki District, Buriram Province, leading to the following practices: Students, teachers, and parents participate in developing and creating learning spaces for democracy for students to be open to learning behaviors and new political expressions in high schools, because students follow political news through communication channels by themselves.
