BUDDHIST INTEGRATION TO PROMOTE CIVIC DUTIES OF BANG YAI MUNICIPALITY NONTHABURI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to 1. Study the level of civic engagement of the citizens in Bang Yai Subdistrict, Nonthaburi Province.2. Examine the relationship between the four social objectives and the civic duties of the Bang Yai Subdistrict Municipality, Nonthaburi Province. 3. Present Buddhist integration to promote civic duties of the Bang Yai Subdistrict Municipality, Nonthaburi Province.  The research employs a mixed-methods approach. The quantitative research uses a questionnaire as a tool for data collection. The sample group consists of citizens aged 18 years and older in Bang Yai Subdistrict, Nonthaburi Province, totaling 371 individuals. The statistical methods used for data analysis include frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Hypothesis testing is conducted using t-tests and ANOVA. The qualitative research employs in-depth interviews with 9 key informants, and the data is analyzed through descriptive content analysis.

The research results found that 1) The level of promotion of civic duties in Bang Yai Subdistrict, Nonthaburi Province, is generally at a high level. The area with the highest average is respect for differences, followed by self-responsibility and self-reliance. The area with the lowest average is respect for democratic rules. 2) The relationship between the four social objectives and the promotion of civic duties in Bang Yai Subdistrict Municipality, Nonthaburi Province, shows that there is a positive correlation at a low level (R = .453**) which is statistically significant at the 0.01 level. Therefore, the research hypothesis is accepted. 3) Presenting Buddhist integration to promote the civic duties of Bang Yai Subdistrict, Nonthaburi Province, based on the four principles of Sanghavatthu: 1) In terms of giving, which includes generosity, sacrifice, sharing, and providing assistance to those in need or distress. 2) In terms of kind speech, fostering unity through positive communication and using polite language. 3) In terms of ethical conduct, helping one another and practicing selfless sacrifice. 4) In terms of consistency, being a person of stability and maintaining appropriate behavior consistently.
