Curriculum Development and Competency-Based School Curriculum Development

Abstract
The academic article on the development of competency-based curriculum and school curriculum aims to present the essential content related to the development of competency-based curriculum and school curriculum, which is the focus of current education, in order to be consistent with the changing situations of the world today. This article presents the essential content, including the meaning of the curriculum, the level of the curriculum, the curriculum development process, school curriculum and the process of school curriculum development, the focus of Thai education in the current situation, the meaning of competency-based curriculum and competency-based teaching and learning by reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing documents, academic articles, or various related sources.
From the study, it was found that curriculum development is a process of planning and management to create or improve the teaching and learning process to be appropriate for learners and educational objectives. Currently, the curriculum that is the focus of Thai education is the competency-based curriculum, which is a curriculum that is a guideline for educational development that emphasizes the creation of competencies or skills necessary for learners in the 21st century to be able to adapt and succeed in a rapidly changing society. This concept is different from traditional curricula that tend to focus more on subject matter knowledge rather than developing skills that learners can apply in real situations and can be used in the future.
