The purpose of this study was to determine whether job stress and psychological well-being (as independent variables) were significantly related to self-efficacy (as dependent variable) among Chinese language teachers in Thailand. A convenience sample of 115 Chinese language teachers from six regions of Thailand participated in this study. For the data collection, the Questionnaire on Teachers’ Job Stress, the Psychological Well-Being Scale, and the Teacher Self- Efficacy Scale were used.

From analyzing means and standard deviations on the collected data, it was found that the overall levels of participants’ job stress and psychological well-being were low, while self-efficacy level was moderate. A correlational analysis on the whole sample revealed no significant correlations between the independent variables and the dependent variable, while subgroup correlational analyses revealed two significant, negative and weak correlations: for Chinese language teachers in Bangkok, psychological well-being was inversely related to self-efficacy, whereas for teachers outside Bangkok, job stress was inversely related to self-efficacy. Based on the research findings, recommendations for Chinese language teachers, school administrators, and future researchers are provided.
