Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of social capital and guidelines for utilizing that capital in the operational process of the development to self-reliance community of an elderly welfare fund. Elderly welfare fund nachaliang municipality, nongphai district, petchaboon province was selected as a case study. Research methodology was based on qualitative approach. Data was collected by in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and non-participatory observations with leaders and members of the Elderly welfare fund, community leaders, and key informants of involving agencies outside the group.
Findings revealed that the Key lessons learned about how to utilize social capital in the operational process of the development to self-reliance community included the five principles which are Synergy of social capital and other community capitals, Community learning (Having platform for participations), Extend both within and outside the group (Accumulation of networks), Knowledge management (development, storage and transfer of knowledge), Creative Activity (Academic Activities, Innovation for Quality of Life), It helped to the Development of Sustainable Community-based Elderly Welfare Fund.
