Abstract
The objectives of this research were (1) to develop analytical thinking skill with the use of the instructionalprocess emphasizing group-based learning process based on the yonisomanasikara approach; (2) to comparestudentsû analytical thinking skills before and after undertaking the group-based learning process based on theyonisomanasikara approach; and (3) to study opinions toward the instructional process emphasizing group-basedlearning process based on the yonisomanasikara approach of students in the information technology program ofSuan Dusit Rajabhat University. The research sample consisted of 35 students who registered in the InformationService Provider Course of the Information Technology Program in the 2009 academic year. The employedresearch instruments were a learning achievement test and a questionnaire to assess opinions toward the instructionalprocess emphasizing group-based learning process based on the yonisomanasikara approach. Research data werestatistically analyzed using the percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and F-test. Research findings were asfollows: (1) the mean achievement score of students learning from the four activities under the instructionalprocess emphasizing group-based learning process based on the yonisomanasikara approach was 65.97, whichwas 77.61 percent of the full score, and their mean achievement score from the post-test was 15.10, which was75.64 percent of the full score. (2) The efficiency of the instructional process emphasizing group-based learningprocess based on the yonisomanasikara approach was 77.61/75.64, and the effective index of the instructionalprocess was 0.66 indicating that students increased their analytical thinking skill by 66 percent. (3) pre-learningand post-learning analytical thinking abilities of students learning from the instructional process emphasizinggroup-based learning process based on the yonisomanasikara approach were significantly different with the postlearninganalytical thinking ability being significantly higher than the pre-learning counterpart, indicating thatstudentsû analytical thinking ability after learning from the instructional process emphasizing group-based learningprocess based on the yonisomanasikara approach was significantly increased. (4) Studentsû overall opiniontoward the instructional process emphasizing group process based on the yonisomanasikara approach was at thehigh level. When opinions toward aspects of the instructional process were ranked based on rating means fromtop to bottom, the instructor aspect received the top rating mean, followed by the measurement and evaluation, instructional process, location, media, and audio-visual aids, respectively.
