Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing organizational commitment, study organizationalcommitment, and compare the levels of organizational commitment of Suan Dusit Rajabhat University personnelclassified by personal factors: age, official status, line of work, academic rank, jurisdiction, and work duration.This study was a survey research. The research sample consisted of 295 Suan Dusit Rajabhat Universitypersonnel. The employed data collecting instrument was a 5-scale rating questionnaire. Statistics employed fordata analysis included the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffflmethod for pair-wise comparison. The factors in this study were classified into 4 categories: (1) personalfactors, (2) work characteristics factors, (3) work performance factors, and (4) attitudes of the personnel towardthe university. The findings of this study showed that the factors as a whole had influence on organizationalcommitment of Suan Dusit Rajabhat University personnel at the very high level. When considered by eachcategory of factors, it was found that the personal factors had the top influence, followed by the attitudestoward the university factors, the work performance factors, and the work characteristics factors, respectively.

Hypothesis testing results indicated that Suan Dusit Rajabhat University personnel with differentgenders, work lines, official statuses, and jurisdictions did not significantly differ in their organizationalcommitment to the university; while those with different academic ranks, and work durations differedsignificantly in their organizational commitment toward the university at the .05 level.

From the findings of this study as a whole, it could be concluded that overall organizationalcommitment of university personnel toward Suan Dusit Rajabhat University was at the very high level. Thiscould be implied that the university personnel would cooperate to perform their work effectively and inharmony even in the time of crisis or in any situation.
