Political Participation of Civil Society in local, Government in Sam Sung District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract
This research aimed to 1) study the level of political participation of civil society in local governance in Sam Sung District, Khon Kaen Province; 2) compare the level of political participation of civil society in local governance in Sam Sung District. The sample included 400 participants obtained from 19,503 citizens with the right to vote who lived in Sam Sung District, Khon Kaen Province area by using Taro Yamane’s sampling technique, and the key informants were 10 Sangkhatikan monks, personnel and citizens in Sam Sung District, Khon Kaen Province area obtained from purposive sampling technique. Research instruments included a questionnaire and interview form. Statistical methods for data analysis included frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test and f-test and data analysis used the statistical package for the social sciences. For qualitative research, data was analyzed by using contextual content analysis techniques.
Research results showed that
1) The overall level of political participation of civil society in local governance in Sam Sung District, Khon Kaen Province, was at a high level.
2) The comparison of civil society’s level of political participation in local governance in Sam Sung revealed that people with different ages, education levels, civil society groups, and average monthly incomes had their political participation differently with a statistical significance level of 0.05.
