The Security Management of Community Enterprises According to the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy

Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) to study and analyze the security management of community enterprises according to the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy; (2) to examine the influence that impacts on the security management of community enterprises; and, (3) to study the factors according to the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy which affect the effectiveness of the security management of community enterprises. This study is mixed- method research. Regarding the quantitative method, questionnaires were used to collect the research data from 938 community enterprise members in 7 provinces located in the Eastern region including Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Trat, Prachinburi, Rayong and Sakaeo. In relation to the one-way ANOVA and Multiple regression, the statistical significance is set at .05. With regard to the qualitative method, documentary research and interview are employed to ensure the result of the quantitative research. The result of this research shows that; (1) overall, the majority of community enterprise members agreed that their community enterprises adopt the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in order to strengthen their organizations, with a mean of x ̅=4.00. Considering one-by-one issue, all of 5 issues were ranked as “High”. The rankings from the highest to the lowest are management with virtue (x ̅= 4.11), management with rationality (x ̅= 3.99) Immunity building (x ̅= 3.99), management with modesty (x ̅= 3.99) and management with knowledge (x ̅= 3.99); (2) In terms of organizational factors that affect the security management of community enterprises according to the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, overall, it is found that community enterprises with different targeted customers, types, operations, operation periods, amount of invested capital, sources of capital, number of members and location significantly adopt different security management of community enterprises according to the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy with the statistical significance at .05; (3) 5 factors according to the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy consisting of knowledge, rationality, virtue, immunity and modesty, respectively, significantly have a positive influence on the effectiveness of security management of community enterprises with the statistical significance at .05 which can be co-forecasted 80.7% of the variables; and, (4) it can be indicated that the majority of active community enterprises in the Eastern region of Thailand adopts the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy as the main principle for community enterprise management in order to strengthen the organizations. The researcher suggests that the government and community enterprises should adopt the Royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy as the strengthening mechanism at the higher level, especially, immunity building by developing the potential of personnel and members, increasing savings, further developing the organization with rationality as well as managing with virtue, ethics and transparency.
