Abstract

The objective of the research is to study and analyze the situation of problems and impacts of Songkhla Lake Basin. The study basing on Basin area management according to foreign laws and Thai laws and Songkhla Lake Basin Management Model as well in order to create a local regulation model on Songkhla Lake Basin Management. The research methodology is qualitative research consisting of Documentary research; In-depth interview; Focus group; Participatory Design, Co-design; and Hearing. The research found out that there are 3 aspects cause problems and obstacles in the management of Songkhla Lake Basin. There are too many agencies operating without cooperation and no local administrative organization involved. Inefficient management causes problems in an appropriated Basin land use; natural resources conservation; and pollution control. Ineffectiveness law enforcement and compensation for damage. Research recommendation is local administrative organizations issue local regulation in accordance with the guidelines of the local regulation model on Songkhla Lake Basin Management. And further research recommended is a research on local regulation model for the designation of food security areas in the Watershed.
