Approach for Cultural Tourism Development of Old Town Site in NAN Province

Abstract

The objective of this research are to 1) study tourist behavior in cultural tourism site in the old town , NAN Province , 2) study the level of satisfaction of tourists toward the old town site in NAN Province and 3) purpose an approach for cultural tourism development site in old town, NAN Province by busing community participative process. This research and development study are using both quantitative and qualitative methods. This research include 3 Phase: Phase 1 documentary research and observation the old town area, NAN Province. Phase 2 quantitative research, to survey tourist behavior and the level of satisfaction toward the old town, NAN Province and descriptive statistics analysis Phase 3 qualitative research, In-depth interview key informants and data analysis with content analysis technique. The result show that the landscape and architecture of old town are beautiful , identity and antique . The level of tourist’s satisfaction toward the potential of cultural tourism are high level (the attraction x̄ = 4.266, the support x̄ = 4.248, management x̄ = 4.365). Approach for cultural tourism development of of the old town, site in NAN province are 1) setting cultural tourism development strategy and collaborate with public, private and civil society. 2) strategic cultural tourism development to implement collaborate with all sector. 3) approach for landscape, architecture management of the old town area. 4) approach for the promotion of cultural tourism attraction. 5) approach for the containable cultural and ritual by busing community participative process. 6) approach for the environmental conservation and pollution problem solving by using community participative process. 7) approach for safety and accommodate utilities for the tourist.
