บทคัดย่อ
บทความชิ้นนี้ เป็นการศึกษาหรือสำรวจเบื้องต้นเกี่ยวกับ “หน้าตา” และ “ตำแหน่งหน้าที่” ของประชาสังคม (Civil Society) ในฐานะเป็นพื้นที่ที่มีตัวแสดงอันหลากหลายมาปฏิสัมพันธ์กัน โดยผ่านการนำเสนอสองส่วน ได้แก่ ส่วนแรก การสำรวจหน้าตาและตำแหน่งหน้าที่ของประชาสังคมจากแนวคิดตะวันตกในศตวรรษที่ 18 และส่วนที่สอง การสำรวจหน้าตาและตำแหน่งหน้าที่ของประชาสังคม ผ่านการศึกษาวิเคราะห์อย่างเป็นระบบที่เรียกกว่า ‘Civil Society Diamond’ (CSD) โดยอยู่บนแนวคิดว่าหน่วยงานประเภทที่สาม หรือ องค์กรพัฒนาเอกชนเป็น “พื้นที่” ทางการเมืองอันมีมิติความซับซ้อนโดยธรรมชาติ
